Can i manage my Bipolar 2 without medication?

Hi everyone.How are you?I am 24 years old and live in Glasgow,Scotland. I was recently diagnosed with Bipolar 2 Disorder.The psychiatrist is going to start me on a mood stabiliser tommorow but to be honest i don't want to take any medication.My Mum has Bipolar 2 also and her medication makes her very flat and zombified.I also enjoyed my hypomanic state especially compared to the depressions. I felt so so great and happy and energised as well as very productive and creative. I thrived at work in this state.My doctor says that Bipolar 2 is a milder form of Bipolar so i think i will be okay.Do you think i can manage this condition without meds?Or do i need meds?Thanks for your time.Take care.
