Was i diagnosed with Bipolar 2 today?

Hi guys. How are you all today?I am 23 years old and live in Glasgow,Scotland. I seen my psychiatrist today.A month ago i had an episode. It wasn't as severe as full-blown mania. I just felt incredibly happy and grandiose and energised and very productive and creative.I also didn't need much sleep and i spent money with unusual extravangance.The pdoc called this "hypomania".A few months previously i had severe depression.I didn't mind the hypomania at first as i felt so great compared to when i was depressed. He prescribed me the mood stabiliser Sodium Valproate. I asked him do i have Bipolar Disorder and he said "Yes, but the mild type".Does this mean that i have Bipolar II? As i believe that is a milder form of Bipolar.Did he mean that i have Bipolar II?Thanks everyone.Hope you have a good day.
